Baby It's Cold Outside.
Vol. 2 Issue
3
In my chapter on global warming, in
"Where Did My America Go?" I outlined all of
the scientific evidence I could find that
proves man is not responsible for global
warming. In conducting my research, I went
back to the earliest studies of this
phenomenon. All of the evidence that I found
proves that the industrial world, as we know
it, is only responsible for less than .028%
of the greenhouse effect. Which means that
99.72% of the greenhouse effect is naturally
caused.
Trees, bushes, grass and all living plant
matter need carbon dioxide to survive. They
take it in and give off oxygen, which man
needs to survive. It is a vicious cycle.
Both man and plants breathe and exhale gases
that would be self-annihilating. However, we
jointly contribute to each others survival.
The problem occurs when there is too much
carbon dioxide in the air. Forest fires and
volcanic eruptions cause most of this. Even
if we shut down every factory, parked every
car and mandated that every living person on
the planet stops breathing there would still
be carbon dioxide in the air and global
warming.
Carbon dioxide has been increasing in our
atmosphere steadily for over 18,000 years -
long before the industrial revolution and
all of the smoke stacks and gasoline
combustion engines were on the scene.
Factually, the period known as the Holocene
Maximum; so named because it was the hottest
period on the planet, occurred 7,500 to
4,000 years B.P. (Before Present).
So why all the fear about global warming?
Let us look at the facts. Periods of Earth
warming and cooling occur in cycles. This is
well understood, as in the fact that
small-scale cycles of about 40 years exist
within larger-scale cycles of 400 years,
which in turn exists in still larger scale
cycles of 20,000 years, and so on. Today we
are enjoying global temperatures, which have
warmed back to levels of the so-called
"Medieval Warm Period" which existed from
1000 A.D. to A.D.1350. Since the Earth was
evidently coming out of a relatively cold
period in the 1800's, warming in the past
century may be part of this natural
recovery. Actually, according to many
climatologists we are starting to enter a
cooling period.
So now, what have we seen from the media
in the past few weeks? There has been
another shift in temperature. Wonya Lucas,
is heating up the Weather Channel. As the
executive vice president and general manager
of the Weather Channel Networks, she has her
own theory. She has moved away from
scientific forecasting of the weather to a
sensational policy of becoming the liberal
Medias advocate on global warming. It is our
fault, she claims. She has even gone so far
as to call for the expulsion of all
meteorologists from the American
Meteorological Society if they do not agree
with her. I thought Hitler was dead.
The weather channel which debuted in
1982, has always been a respected cable
network show. Now it seems that Lucas wants
to turn it into another extremity of the
left liberal media. I can hear the reports
now. It's the administration's fault that
the weather is nice in the red states and
bad in the blue states. Actually, the
scientific facts are that under President
Bush's environmental policies the air in the
United States is cleaner than ever before.
All of the countries that signed the Kyoto
Treaty have higher levels of contaminants in
their countries than before the treaty.
In an interview with Media Village, Lucas
admitted that, "her reprogramming of the
Weather Channel was influenced by her tenure
at CNN when that network shifted from
presenting straight news to
personality-driven programming." It sounds
like her personality is that of an ice cube.
Give this some thought. All we hear is
that global warming is responsible for all
of the hurricanes that occurred in the
Southern waters last year that effected
Florida and the Gulf Coast states. Hurricane
Katrina devastated New Orleans. Here are
some questions to think about. If hurricanes
form in warm water and the ice caps are
melting, why does that make sense? How is it
that the oceans are getting warmer? When you
place ice in water does it get warmer or
colder?
In August 2001, Petr (not misspelled)
Chylek, Professor of Physics and Atmospheric
Science, at Dalhousie University, in
Halifax, Nova Scotia, commenting on reports
by other researchers that Greenland's
glaciers are melting. Stated," Scientists
who want to attract attention to themselves,
who want to attract great funding to
themselves, have to find a way to scare the
public. This you can achieve only by making
things bigger and more dangerous than they
really are."
Stephen Schneider, leading advocate of
the global warming theory in an interview
for Discover magazine said, "We have to
offer up scary scenarios, make simplified,
dramatic statements, and make little mention
of any doubts we may have. Each of us has to
decide what the right balance is between
being effective and being honest."
Now that Lucas and her Weather Channel
have gone over to the other side I guess we
will be hearing more frightening tales of
Global Warming. I know of one friend Lucas
has gained over the past few weeks. Does the
name Al Gore ring a bell?
I tried to take a survey about what
people really think about global warming. I
called all of the people I know in Colorado
and Texas last week. I could not get
through. All of the lines were frozen. As I
am writing this newsletter, I am sitting in
my home in sunny Lake Worth, Florida with
the heat on. You see the temperature outside
is 45 degrees.
Now the person who has been yelling "boo"
the loudest has been nominated for an Oscar
for his movie "An Inconvenient Truth." I
wonder if he wins will he turn it down
because a large amount of carbon dioxide may
have been produced in smelting that golden
statue.
Actually, I must admit that I may be
wrong. Man may be responsible for global
warming, when you consider all of the hot
air that Lucas and Gore are spitting out.
And, that's my opinion.
